Anthropic held its first official event in South Korea, the Korea Builder Summit, on March 19 at Signiel Seoul in Jamsil, Seoul. Co-hosted by AI reliability company Coxwave, the event aimed to foster engagement with Korean developers and featured key figures from Anthropic, including Instagram co-founder and Anthropic Chief Product Officer Mike Krieger.

During the summit, Anthropic hinted at the possibility of establishing a Korean office. Kate Earle Jensen, Head of Revenue at Anthropic, stated, “Korea is home to some of the fastest-growing startups in the world, and we are excited about the prospect of opening an office here and deepening our presence in the market.”
Mike Krieger introduced the latest advancements in Claude 3.7, emphasizing its hybrid inference model designed to enhance extended reasoning capabilities, particularly excelling in coding and human-AI collaboration. In a subsequent fireside chat with Coxwave Director Yip Lee, Krieger elaborated on the distinctions between Claude and ChatGPT, highlighting that “Claude excels in empathy and understanding, making it an ideal choice for those who seek a more human-like conversational experience.” He acknowledged Claude’s strengths in processing Korean but noted that improvements were needed in handling honorifics, adding, “We are committed to incorporating user feedback to refine and enhance the product.”

Coxwave’s Yip Lee emphasized Claude’s impact on Korean businesses, stating, “Beyond its technical excellence, Claude contributes significantly to business growth. Through this summit, we hope Korean companies can leverage world-class AI technology to drive innovation across various industries.”
With its first major event in South Korea, Anthropic’s growing interest in the market signals a potential expansion, further strengthening the country’s AI ecosystem.
