South Korea Opens SVC Seoul, the Largest Startup Hub in Korea, Near Hongik University

sungho-choo - 2026 May 23

South Korea’s Ministry of SMEs and Startups officially opened Startup Venture Campus Seoul — known as SVC Seoul — on May 20, 2026, near Hongik University Station in Mapo-gu, Seoul. Modeled after Paris’ Station F, the world’s largest startup campus, SVC Seoul is designed to be Korea’s largest startup hub with a total floor area of 13,275㎡ , spanning from basement level 2 to the 12th floor.

The facility is focused exclusively on three sectors branded as ABC: Artificial Intelligence, Beauty & Fashion, and Content & Culture, all chosen for their global expansion potential. Floors 4 through 10 are dedicated to resident company offices, floors 1 through 3 host IR and meetup lounges, and floors 11 and 12 serve as global lounges.

Currently, 43 startups hold fixed office spaces, with 20 already moved in, while an additional 200 membership-based companies operate in a shared office format, bringing the total to roughly 250 companies under one roof. Eight domestic and international anchor companies — including Microsoft, Naver Cloud, and Hyundai Motor Company — have signed on as open innovation partners.

The hub is explicitly built to connect high-potential Korean startups with global venture capital, and plans to run ongoing programs including investment linkage with overseas VCs, open innovation initiatives, global accelerating, and overseas expansion support. The location near Hongdae was deliberately chosen for its concentration of young creative energy and globally oriented culture.
