DeepX, a South Korean fabless AI semiconductor company, has secured approximately KRW 40 billion in additional Series D funding. The latest investment brings the cumulative amount raised in the company’s first three Series D closings to approximately KRW 133.3 billion, as DeepX continues a multi-closing round targeting roughly KRW 300 billion in total.
Shinhan Financial Group is investing approximately KRW 40 billion at the group level, after discussions of a joint investment vehicle with Timefolio Capital did not proceed as initially planned. Existing investor BNW Investment has also committed approximately KRW 40 billion to the Series D, while other financial institutions and existing and new investors are expected to participate in subsequent closings.
DeepX’s Series D is being conducted through multiple closings rather than a single payment. The company had initially considered combining policy funding from Korea’s Public Growth Fund with private capital, but is currently pursuing the round primarily with private investors. The company has reportedly been valued at approximately KRW 2.85 trillion in the current financing.

Founded in February 2018 and headquartered in Seongnam, South Korea, DeepX develops low-power neural processing units (NPUs) for on-device AI applications. Its flagship first-generation chip, DX-M1, is designed to enable AI inference directly on robots, industrial equipment, vehicles, and other edge devices without relying on cloud-based computing or high-power data-center GPUs.
DeepX’s technology is positioned around energy efficiency: the company’s NPU architecture is designed to deliver AI inference performance at a fraction of the power consumption of conventional GPU-based systems, making it suitable for physical AI and autonomous machines operating under strict power and thermal constraints. DeepX has secured 77 global orders and aims to generate KRW 40–60 billion in purchase orders this year, with customers and partners including Hyundai Motor and Baidu. The company is also developing its next-generation DX-M2 chip using Samsung Electronics’ 2-nanometer process technology.
DeepX plans to use the new capital to accelerate development of DX-M2, expand production and customer deployment of DX-M1, and strengthen its global business. The company is preparing for a public listing in the second half of next year and plans to complete the broader Series D round through additional closings before considering a separate investment from Korea’s Public Growth Fund.
