Cubig, Wins at Startup World Cup Korea Finals

Cubig, a synthetic data solutions startup, has emerged as the winner of the first-ever Startup World Cup 2025 Korea Finals. The global startup pitching competition was held on June 30th at D.CAMP in Mapo, Seoul, with Cubig now set to represent South Korea at the grand finals in Silicon Valley this October.

The Startup World Cup, an initiative launched in 2016 by Pegasus Tech Ventures in Silicon Valley, hosts preliminary rounds in over 100 cities worldwide. This year marked the inaugural Korea Finals, which saw over 100 startups apply, with 10 Series A-stage or later companies advancing to present their innovative business models.

Cubig, founded in 2021 by an Ewha Womans University professor, specializes in multimodal, domain-agnostic synthetic data. The company has developed groundbreaking technology capable of generating virtual data with statistical properties remarkably similar to real data, all without the need for actual data collection. This innovation holds significant potential for optimizing AI model training.

The competition also showcased a diverse range of innovative startups

  • ANIAI presented AlphaGrill, an AI cooking robot that can grill hamburger patties on both sides in under a minute, significantly reducing cooking time and enhancing efficiency in the restaurant industry.
  • BeringLab, founded by a lawyer-turned-entrepreneur, is tackling inefficiencies in the legal market with AI translation solutions tailored for specialized fields like law and patents.
  • Codyme introduced an innovative service that leverages generative AI to automatically create styling content when users select clothing, models, and backgrounds.
  • Reverse Mountain showcased an AI performance management solution designed for HR in mid-sized and field-oriented companies, aiming to reduce performance evaluation time and automate workflows.
  • Future Sensor unveiled blockchain-based food tracking and inventory management solutions, featuring an AI service that analyzes the causes of food waste in real-time to cut costs and improve demand forecasting.
  • Simple Planet is focused on creating sustainable food ingredients by securing proteins through animal cell cultivation technology.
  • WALLA introduced an online-offline fashion platform built around celebrity fashion information, connecting celebrities with fans and facilitating the sale of related products.
  • UNIUNI has developed a camera-free space management AI solution that detects behaviors such as falls, with applications in medical and care facilities.
