Startups Backed by LG Showcase at LG Superstart Day 2024

sungho-choo - 2024 September 5

LG’s open innovation platform, Superstart, held the open innovation festival ‘Superstart Day 2024’ from September 4th to 5th at LG Science Park in Magok. This year’s event keyword was ‘PLAY’, conveying the message that innovation that changes the world is born from joyful immersion and experimentation.

LG has been discovering and supporting startups for seven years, starting with ‘LG Startup Tech Fair’ and ‘LG CONNECT’ in 2018, and now under the name Superstart.

The main event hall’s 5th floor was divided into four sections: AI, Bio&Health, Future tech, and Clean tech, featuring booths of about 40 startups discovered by LG this year. These startups will have the opportunity to pitch during Superstart Day and, if selected as final 3rd batch nurturing companies through additional screening, will receive various support including collaboration opportunities with LG and investment. Twelve Superstart 2nd batch companies that have been collaborating with LG over the past year were also present at the entrance to greet visitors.

In the AI Zone, RnDcircle, a company providing an AI-based customized R&D partner matching platform, is looking forward to R&D partner matching cooperation with LG in the future. Next to it, Black tangerine, offering AI solutions based on body type, personal color, and facial image data, attracted people with demonstrations recommending beers or suitable LG HomeBrew products based on real-time facial images.

In the Bio zone, Constant, which provides data-based hair loss analysis services and customized scalp care solutions, was crowded with people waiting for scalp analysis services. Constant offers a solution for self-diagnosis of hair loss through its hair loss home care brand, Refilled.

In the Future tech zone, an AI robot that grills meat like a chef caught attention. Beyond Honeycomb is creating ‘Grill X’, a product that minimizes grilling staff, and is currently providing services such as product rentals only to B2B restaurants like Korean BBQ HanamPig.

The most popular area at the event was the F&B pop-up zone. There was a long line to receive the Super-aid and freshly baked salt bread developed by F&B startup Manwal in collaboration with Superstart. Park Je-young, CEO of Manwal, also shared the story of growing to over 7,000 partnership cafes nationwide through customer fandom “Dalmuri” during an innovation seminar lecture.
