#Trend Analysis
Logistics Sector Rebounds with Surging Investments
The logistics sector, which saw a staggering 80% decline in investments last year, is now experiencing a resurgence in funding.
After a significant increase during the COVID-19 pandemic, investments in this sector took a sharp downturn. Last year, the sector attracted a mere 80.4 billion won in investments, affected by the underperformance of last-mile solution startups and decreased logistics demand due to the global economic slowdown.
However, the tide seems to be turning. In just the first half of this year, the sector has already secured 95.4 billion won in investments, surpassing the total amount for the entire previous year.
The primary focus of these investments is on technology startups leading the digital transformation of the logistics market. Notable among these are logistics automation solutions that enhance efficiency in delivery, packaging, sorting, and inventory management through the use of artificial intelligence and robotics.
Many startups that were at the initial investment stage a year ago have now entered a more mature phase, attracting further funding.
While short-term funding prospects remain uncertain, the fact that investments in the first half of this year have already exceeded the total for the previous year is encouraging. Given the crucial role of the logistics industry in the global market, the growth potential in this sector is viewed positively.
